2nd Graders have been learning all about water. Students started out by learning about molecules and specifically the H2O molecule. We studied the three states of water and the water cycle and did several experiments in the lab to demonstrate this. We experimented with the cohesive and adhesive properties of water and discussed surface tension. We learned how small the amount of available fresh water there is in the world and why it is so important to conserve fresh water.
Going outside, we followed the path of the creek going across campus to the Chattahoochee River. We were dismayed to find lots of trash in the creek and are currently busy brainstorming ways to prevent trash from entering the creek on campus. If we do find trash in the water, the students are busy brainstorming ways to get it out.
